2026 Term 2: Mon 20th Apr - Fri 26th June

Spoon Carving

June 22, 2021

High School students learn carving techniques to create a spoon or egg using a straight carving knife. Starting with knife safety and techniques, the class quickly settle into some mindful meditation that comes with whittling.

Whittling requires looking at what needs to be taken away to create (or find) the finished shape, a skill that the students develop over the course of the project. Students can then individualise their projects with techniques involving the pyrography pen.
