Early Childhood Program

Little Kindlings Playgroup

Little Kindlings Playgroup is a gentle morning session for babies and toddlers together with their parents and carers.

The playgroup runs several mornings a week in a beautiful room overlooking the water feature, adjacent to our Kindergarten space.

Guided by our experienced playgroup leader, the morning unfolds with a calm and comforting rhythm. The environment is thoughtfully prepared to feel warm, welcoming and homelike.

Our activities include:

  • Baking bread
  • Creative free play
  • Morning circle with seasonal stories, rhymes and songs

A steady rhythm shapes the morning as children participate in simple daily rituals — washing hands, baking, sharing morning tea, and tidying up together with a smile and a song.

Playgroup is also a space for parents to connect. Over cups of tea, families build friendships, share conversation, and explore ideas around parenting in a supportive and relaxed setting.

Little Kindlings offers a gentle introduction to the Steiner approach to early childhood education, and a glimpse into how this is lived and experienced at Kindlehill.

Child nurtures wonder through imaginative play with natural toys and colourful silks in a Steiner classroom environment.

Early Childhood & Kindy Garden Program

For all children turning 5 we offer a Little Kindy Program which is Tuesdays - Thursdays.
Big Kindy is our 5 day program for children who are turning 6.

“We love our children: our teaching is inspired by knowledge of the human being and the love of children. And another love is being built up around us, the love of parents for the true essence of the school. Only within such a community can we work towards a future of humankind able to prosper and withstand.”

— Rudolf Steiner

Subjects and Curriculum

At Kindlehill, our Kindy Garden truly lives up to its name — it is a place where children are tended with care, patience and deep respect for childhood.

Each child is given the time and space to grow and unfold at their own pace. The days are filled with warmth and gentle rhythm, woven through with stories, songs, creative expression and meaningful hands-on activities, all held within a safe and protective embrace.

Children practise kindness and consideration. They meet small challenges with growing confidence, learn to care for one another, and develop a quiet reverence for the natural world. Gratitude and mindfulness are nurtured through daily experiences and simple shared rituals.

We seek to educate the whole child — head, heart and hands — cultivating curiosity, imagination, resilience and thoughtful awareness. This balanced foundation supports children not only in their early years, but throughout their lives.

Wonder, discovery and joyful exploration shape each day. The richness of the Kindy experience lays strong roots for lifelong wellbeing and a love of learning.

Kindlehill families gather for storytelling, awakening imagination through a nature-centred community rhythm and shared sense of wonder.A childs hand paints with vibrant watercolours, expressing imagination and connection to nature through heart-centred artistic flow.
