This year our Winters Night is a celebration of the Dharug Seasonal Calendar. Thank you to Aunty Corina for guiding us in celebrating the seasons according to the Dharug Calendar. “Our Dharug Ancestors observed subtle indicators of seasonal change such as in temperature, clouds, wind, flora and fauna which assisted in knowing when to burn […]

Wellbeing Wednesday

in High School News

What started as a cool & misty morning quickly turned into a very balmy end of summer’s day. With an enthusiastic group we headed a little way up the mountains to Blackheath. Upon arrival we studied the map, took three deep grounding breaths and headed towards Fort Rock along the clifftop from Centennial Glen Road.  Along […]

Camp is Not Just for the Kids – Class 5 – 6 Cultural Camp

in Kindy & Primary News

I rave about the awesomeness of joining school camps to any parent that listens.  The appreciation I feel seeing the teachers in action and the joy of being a fly on the wall (or gum tree) of the kids in their natural habitat is ALWAYS worth the trouble it takes to get there. I love […]

High School Art Camp

in High School News

February’s Art Camp at Ganguddy is now a regular fixture on the High School calendar, with Years 7-10 joined by our first Year 11 cohort. Last Wednesday, the threat of rain saw the first day of camp take place at school, where students undertook sessions in drawing and printmaking on Country, and a Drama session […]

Ceremony and Celebration of Lynn’s Stepping Away as Principal

in Events

A Little Bit Magic…. This School is a little bit magic….from a handful of seeds scattered (as in Jack and the Beanstalk) one took root and from it, a village for children and young people grew. A village where everyone is schooled to be an artist, maker, dreamer, sculptor advocate and activist for a kinder, […]

Why Craft?

in Kindy & Primary News

I imagine you may have many carefully handmade items gently kept about your home: a getabout bag woven from finger knitting, a weed woven basket, a French knitted snail, an embroidered bag, a crocheted beanie/scarf/wrist warmer, a wooden chessboard….. At Kindlehill we place a strong emphasis on the craft for its many benefits to the […]

Class 2 – 3 Camp – Glenbrook National Park

in Kindy & Primary News

We were welcomed by local residents; two cheeky goannas, who came over to inspect our lunchboxes once we arrived. We had lunch and some time to explore the campsite, set up our beds and have a play. We got to go for a bushwalk down to the Nepean River and cool our feet off, before […]

Class 1 Play

in Kindy & Primary News

My favourite expression of deep learning is through creative and performing arts. Last Thursday Class 1 performed their play “Blend Blossom Bloom’ twice: a matinee for the school and an evening session for families and friends. The play was created from a literacy unit about diagraphs and blend sounds. For 3 weeks the class heard stories, […]
