Class 5–6 Bathing with a Bunyip!

March 13, 2026

Our Class 5-6 Wangat camp, at the feet of the Barrington’s, was a wonderful weave of connection with nature and as a class. We also experienced the phenomena of light and colour related to our Physics lesson – blue sky, blush of sunrise and set, and the bonus of a blood moon (eclipse).

We walked up and down the gullies of the Barrington “Water Dragon”, jumped from beside a waterfall into the Bunyip’s bath and visited the 150 years plus strangler fig tree. I think we all returned with souvenir itches from leech bites.
Wangat is a fine example of how a forest can regenerate, once cleared for timber, pasture and gold mining, it is now a beautiful diverse ecosystem including padymelon and koala (and that in just 40 years!).

A big thanks to the inspirational Dan, Mickey G and Wombog, and to Bec for her warm practical care of the children.  The adventures and learning on this camp are sure to resonate for this year and beyond.
