2026 Term 2: Mon 20th Apr - Fri 26th June

Welcome to Winter’s Night

June 20, 2024

Arrangements and Information for the Evening

All children and their families will meet in the village at 5.15-5.30 in the little park, next to the station, (called Coronation Park), to collect their lantern from their class teacher and then walk up to School with their families.

No need to wait for the Teacher to walk up. (Trains up and down the mountain arrive close to this time)

On arrival school, all families will be welcomed with a smoking ceremony by Uncle Lex and then wander through the Six Dharug Seasons with their families, marvelling at what is happening in our natural world throughout the year.

This journey works its way into the Performance Space where children will now sit with their class Teachers and lanterns will be placed on a table in readiness. Families will sit on the tiers.

We will sing together. A songbook is provided and families are welcome to join in.

At the conclusion of the singing, families will be invited to rejoin with their children and collect the lanterns.

Families can then make their way home back to the village.

If you are unable to meet in the village, we kindly ask that you consider where to park your car as space is limited near the School. Please be mindful of our neighbours when parking close to the School.

For those families unable to walk up from the village, the children’s lanterns will be brought up into the performance space- ready for collection at the conclusion.

We strongly encourage families to bring extra matches as candles blow out easily and can be upsetting for children.

We are filled with anticipation.
