There is a warm hum in Kindy as we head towards our week of Winter Celebrations. Little Winter scenes have begun to pop up in the Kindy room and we have been very busy with preparations, singing and storytelling.

On Thursday we will share our Kindy Winter Play with our family and friends. Last week we practiced the play with our silks and crowns, and it instantly transformed us into winter beings, on a journey in search of the light and warmth that will carry us through the coldest and longest night. With a friend on either hand and with sturdy feet, we wander through the darkness, who we may meet…..

Uncle Lex has gifted us rope made from stringy bark, twisted, and turned into thin wicks that we are using instead of cotton wicks to make our candles this year. The children will dip these into the melted beeswax and watch as their candles grow, ready for lighting on Winter’s Night. Thanks Uncle Lex.

And finally, our golden paintings have been folded, glued, and oiled just waiting to be lit for our walk to the lake on Friday night.

Kirsty Edwards Kindy Garden Teacher

Kirsty has completed Studies of Anthroposophy and Rudolf Steiner Education (Early Childhood) at the Sydney Rudolf Steiner College, and a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) from James Cook University. She joined Kindlehill in 2008 as a Kindergarten assistant and has been Kindergarten Teacher since 2013.
