Visual Arts

December 18, 2020

The Visual Arts program at Kindlehill aims for a student to become competent in basic art making skills in order to develop a high level of technical ability. The program is set up in the tradition of the Atelier, in that it seeks to create the workshop studio practice of professional artists. Our purpose-built Art Studio in the school’s new technology building is a flexible space that incorporates easels and controlled lighting to facilitate the making of a variety of art forms.

Our program is guided by the New South Wales Visual Arts Syllabus for Years 7-10 and includes the artforms of drawing, painting, printmaking, photography and digital arts. Students complete critical and historical studies of artworks and artists using the cultural, structural, subjective and postmodern frames as a basis for understanding the content presented in the Visual Arts course. Programs are regularly interlinked with English units of work for the creation of visual texts.
