Divine Challenge

April 23, 2010

Pippita and Lynne have set their own challenge. Over the holidays they  sculpted a stairwell rail that evokes a twisting vine. Pippita came up with the idea after she heard that the garden between the spiral shell and original building will feature rainforest plants. The stairwell, at the lower end of this garden, with carry this theme up the stairs.

Over the next few weeks the vine stairwell be bagged, coloured and sealed. Lynn admits it’s bit of an experiment. Unlike the tree fresco in the kindy classroom, this cob sculpture is outside, exposed to the elements. Plus it must contend with fifty children as they tramp up and down the stairs each day.  Over the years, the organic process of “becoming” may produce unexpected results.
