Following a Zoom meeting with a Senior Project Officer at the NSW Environmental Protection Authority last week, our year 10 students spent Wednesday morning working through the EPAs Bin Trim Waste Assessment with the 9 cafés participating in our Katoomba Cafés Send Plastic Packing campaign.
The EPA is highly supportive of the project and this assessment is the first step in securing a 50% rebate for the Juggler bulk milk system. We are currently working on securing the other 50% of our budget; we have submitted a Community Sponsorship Grant application to Bendigo Bank and have presented the project to Scenic World’s Sustainability team with a view to securing corporate sponsorship.
We hope to have our funding in place by the end of the school term so that we can go ahead with installation in the new year. Watch this space!
