In Week 3 of Term 2, whilst S’haila was away, singing up a storm in Fiji, Class 2-3 had a wonderful week of creativity, collaboration and learning with Eliza. Throughout the week, and amongst the normal numeracy and literacy work, our groups worked on an over-arching theme of storytelling and the theatre. Teams created their own theatre companies, built their own theatres from scratch, discussed story, developed their adaptation together, created puppets and backdrops and rehearsed their plays.
On Friday, in the theatre-mad town of 2-3 City, we had a festival for our audience of Class 1 students and other lucky walk-ins! Kitty Doom Theatre kicked off the event with the very touching “Elves and the Shoemaker”, followed by Dragon Flight Theatre’s avant-garde “Dragons!”, Dark Forest Theatre’s hilarious “The Unicorn and the Beanstalk”, Penguin Theatre’s surprising “Three Little Pigs” with a twist ending, and the day finished off with the heartbreaking and courageous “Different Duckling” by One Fish Theatre.
A quote from Horatio (Class 2-3) sums it up: “We all worked really hard to make the festival a success. The audience had a great time, and everyone had lots of fun!”.
