The Class 3-4 children have just completed a term of twice weekly lessons with Derek in the Artisan Workshop. It was our first time in the workshop, and the beginning of our journey with woodwork. In the Steiner world, the child’s life body spends its first years expertly sculpting the organs. By the beginning of primary school, it is then available to the child to sculpt their world. So freely manipulating clay, beeswax, plasticene, soapstone, wood creatively draws on these forces. Creative and health giving for the rest of the child’s life.
