Last Wednesday we enjoyed a small celebration with five dedicated Class 2-3 students who recently completed 80 one-hour lessons of the MiniLit program. This is a wonderful milestone for these students, and we are so proud of all the effort, curiosity and perseverance they have brought to their learning.
MiniLit is a gentle, structured and evidence-based early literacy program developed by research teams at Macquarie University. It supports students in the foundational skills of reading, such as letter-sound relationships, blending, segmenting, sight-word recognition, fluency and comprehension. It honours each child’s individual pace and fosters their confidence in reading.
At Kindlehill, we offer MiniLit to students in Class 2, and MacqLit, its companion program, to students in Class 4 and 5. These programs sit alongside our rich classroom curriculum, providing a warm and supportive space for students who benefit from extra practice in developing their reading skills.
We were so proud to celebrate the commitment and growth of these students, and we’re sending them an enormous CONGRATULATIONS for all their hard work.
