Last week, on a beautifully drizzly and misty day, class 4-5 took our first outdoor education excursion with Lachlan, walking the South Lawson Waterfall Circuit. He had some very strong objectives for the children, and they did so well with them all!
The children were all assigned roles including navigator, leader and tail end. They read maps while navigating intersections, participated in group decision making and all helped to make a lunch for everyone. There were some brave enough to enter the waters of the falls and some that were just brave enough to battle the thought of getting a leech!
We have just started our main lesson on Plants in their Environment, so we also used the opportunity to silently observe the forest as we walked and meet a plant in deep observation.
