Last Thursday, Class 9-10 took the train to Parramatta to see Sport for Jove’s production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the new theatre space at Phive Parramatta. Having just kicked off rehearsals for our own production of Romeo & Juliet, it was a great opportunity to see Shakespeare’s language brought to life in a dynamic and contemporary production. The students particularly enjoyed the relationship that the actors created with their audience, the highly physical fight scene between the lovers in the forest, and the hilarity of the Mechanical’s production of Pyramus & Thisbe. For some, it was the first time they’d seen a play, for others, it was a welcome return to a play they’ve seen before (including by our own year 8 class in 2024!) and for all of us, it was a playful and exciting reminder of the delight of live storytelling. We can’t wait to share our own production with you in Spring!
