We were welcomed by local residents; two cheeky goannas, who came over to inspect our lunchboxes once we arrived. We had lunch and some time to explore the campsite, set up our beds and have a play. We got to go for a bushwalk down to the Nepean River and cool our feet off, before heading back for an early dinner. We got into our PJ’s and went for a twilight walk to look for any nocturnal creatures that might be waking up (I think we may have been a little too excited – we may have scared them off!) We finished our day off with a small campfire and some songs and stories.
The camp was a lovely chance for children to come together and support each other as a group, to explore and have the experience of being away from their families for a night. I was impressed by their independence and their enthusiasm; they even asked if we could stay away for another night!
