Wisdom from the Forest

November 11, 2025

In Class 4 – 5 Geography, we are currently exploring the special places of the Great Dividing Range. In this lesson we took inspiration from Rainforest Guardian, John Seed to feel into the voices of some of the creatures in our lives.

Black Cockatoo speaks, “I want you humans to know that you tread on ancient country. I offer you my wisdom – glide peacefully through life and tread carefully on the land.”Remarius

Echidna speaks, “Without roads, the world would be a better place. I offer my wisdom – look after the small things in life because they make up the big things.”
Harry

White Cockatoo speaks, “I’d like you humans to understand that you destroy habitat, the trees that we nest in. I offer you my wisdom – drop seeds so new plants can grow.”
Asaf

Vibrant student artwork depicts a rainforest tree with ecological labels, honouring the sacred wisdom and layers of Country.

Acknowledgement of Country

Kindlehill Steiner School is situated on Dharug and Gundungurra land; we pay respects to the traditional custodians whose cultures and customs continue to nurture this land. We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, Truth telling about the impact and legacy of colonisation, a Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Australian Constitution and a process of Treaty making.
