Singing for our Supper

May 28, 2024

Class 5-6 has entered this year’s Reconciliation Challenge. We will be submitting artwork. In preparation, we have visited two art exhibitions to gather ideas and stir our artistic juices.

A few weeks ago, we visited the Cultural Centre to see the fabulous Western Desert exhibition, and on Friday, we went to the Opening of the Schools Reconciliation Challenge Travelling Exhibition at the Everglades Gallery. The children were impressed by the vivid work of award winning students and came away with lots of ideas for their own artwork.

We got to catch up with Aunty Carol, who did the welcome to country, and we contributed to the opening by singing Gunyalungalung for the guests. Whenever Kindlehill children sing, we are warmly and enthusiastically received. In this case, we were rewarded with an amazing Everglades afternoon tea as well. The children were impressed!
