2026 Term 2: Mon 20th Apr - Fri 26th June

Science Week, 10th – 18th August

August 27, 2024

The school theme for National Science Week in 2024 is Species Survival – More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

At Kindlehill we will be acknowledging and participating in Science week through several fun and engaging events.

The annual Science week at Kindlehill is to be held in week 4 from Monday 12th – Friday 16th August. During the week, all classes will be introducing science – based activities for the children to participate in, enjoy and observe. Specifically, we wanted to let you know about a whole school demonstration of science day, which will take place in the performance space on Thursday 8th August. Here are some key details for the day:

9am – 9.45am: Kris Morris will be demonstrating the process of using vegetables to conduct musical notes through his very groovy technology.

11:30am – 12:30pm: Stuart Taylor from Blue Skies Education will be presenting and demonstrating the mathematics, physics, and risk elements of skydiving.

Nimrod Kruger will be telling us all about light and how animals see!

For the children only. Wednesday 14th August the Wentworth Falls Rural Fire Brigade will be bringing their brand – new Cat 1 fire truck to the School to showcase all of the amazing technology used to fight bush fires and protect our community.

Science week is a great opportunity for children to highlight and bring forth their prior knowledge of science. It is also an opportunity for the children to utilise the science skills of observation, prediction, and iteration. We hope the children will enjoy the exploration of new ideas and skills and demonstrate their innate curiosity and investigative nature in future scientific applications.
