Year 11 has been blown away by the rallying of our whole school community behind our fundraising push for Kids Help Cafés Kick Plastic!

Our heartfelt thanks to Erica and the teachers and parents who have picked up the baton and created 4 highly successful initiatives: Holey Moley Icey Poley, Happy Snaps School Photo, the House Concert at Nightsky, and the magical Craft and Coffee Afternoon (and next morning) at Kindy last Wednesday. Collectively, these initiatives have raised over $6,500. Add that to the $5,293 we have raised through our crowdfunding initiative and the $650 we’ve received from BMCC councillors and we have raised over $12,500! As of Thursday December 5, we are just $2,500 off our target of $15,000.

It feels quite extraordinary to have our colleagues, families, and community rally behind us like this and speaks to the incredible power of goodwill and connection. Thank you all. We really didn’t know if we were going get this project up, but the finish line is looking very big and very real now. Look out Katoomba… change is coming!!

Georgia Adamson High School Drama Teacher

Georgia is a professional actor who has worked extensively across theatre, film and tv. Most recently, she played Sal Thornhill in Sydney Theatre Company’s production of The Secret River at the 2019 Edinburgh International Festival and the National Theatre in London. Georgia is a passionate teacher and has taught for Sydney Theatre Company and Bell Shakespeare Company, in juvenile justice centres and through her own business, Blue Mountains Drama.
