Woodwork with Derek, December 21

December 17, 2021

This term we have been working on wood boxes. We had to design our own box and work out our own measurements. When we started cutting the wood, it had to be exactly straight. This part was very difficult to get on your first try. It took some people more than three tries to get the length and straightness they wanted.

Once we finished cutting, we sanded to perfection. This process takes a lot of time and patience. Some people also did wood burning.

A few people jumped ahead and by the second last day of wood work, a couple of people were already finished and ready to take theirs home.

With the help of Derek, our wood work teacher, we managed to finish in time to take them home. Merekee enjoyed putting her box together and doing the final detail and Matilda’s favourite part was the finished box.
