Today we started to look at the flowering plants. We created a game similar to Go Fish with flowers, fruit and vegetables that belong in the ANNUALS, BIENNIALS and PERENNIAL groups of plants.

We had some personal reflection on our work in the morning and here are some samples.

“I’ve learnt that some plants live forever but other plants live for only a year or two. I am curious about plants that you don’t have to plant like ferns. It was hard to be precise about being the exact copy of the original picture. Although it was hard, it was still enjoyable to draw”. Violet

“Today I learnt about flowers and vegetables. We also drew the flowers. I am agitating with curiosity about how the eggplant looks like an unripe tomato when still growing. The enjoyable bit was just thinking about playing a game our class made and drew. The challenging bit was trying to understand all the scientific words Erica was saying”.Odin

“I learnt that Rhubarb have flowers and I am pretty good at drawing them. I would love to know more about when in the year these pretty flowers bloom and if some rhubarbs don’t bloom at all. I found it a bit hard drawing the leaves of the rhubarb but I still found it easy because I grow heaps and heaps of rhubarb at home! All in all it was really fun”. Haley

“We just learned about drawing flowers. I am still a bit curious about which flowers go into which group. Drawing the flowers was probably the most challenging part. Choosing the flowers was the easiest by far.” Edan

“Drawing flowers was trickier than I thought it would be. I am still curious about how the flowers reproduce. The most challenging part of drawing the flower was the petals. The easy bits were the leaves and the stalk”. Stella

“I just learned that it is hard to shade with colours and switch colours so they kind of fade into each other. I am still curious about how famous artists paint so well. It was challenging drawing the shapes of the flowers. I found it enjoyable drawing because I love it!”. Wren

“In the morning I learnt that annual plants live for 1 year, biennials live for 2 and perennials live forever. I am curious about the card game in Dutch. I didn’t find it too hard drawing or listening to what Annuals, Biennials and Perennials are. I enjoyed drawing the picture of the flowers”. Lily

In the middle lesson we revised our timetables and explored the different (and the same patterns) for the different times tables.
