Change begets change and as our world undergoes fundamental social and ecological change, it is imperative that the way we educate and prepare our young people for this world evolves accordingly. Kindlehill School is ready to change the story of education with the commencement of our Senior High School Program, Buran Nalgarra – Strength and Learning Through Togetherness in 2024.
Buran Nalgarra is a new way of educating in content, context and methods, and is built around Kindlehill’s core commitment to social and ecological responsibility; our curriculum has an ecological and place-based focus, will incorporate first nations knowledge across subjects, and seeks to explore how we can address the ecological and social impacts of living with climate change local and globally.
Kindlehill’s inclusive approach to education supports diverse learners and Buran Nalgarra’s place-based model fosters a passion for learning through engagement with real world problems that matter. Buran Nalgarra is establishing a network of relationships with community organisations and hubs, social enterprises, and businesses, creating the opportunity for students to work with organisations focussed on ecological and social change.
Students graduate with a Kindlehill Senior Studies Certificate that demonstrates the completion of six required Board-Developed and Board-Endorsed courses for Years 11 – 12 as a NESA-registered School. Additionally students develop a Portfolio that is an individualised ready-to-go resume substantially demonstrating achievements, skills, and experience.
