In mid-February, High School students attended Art Camp at Coorongooba Campground on Wiradjuri Country in the stunning Capertee Valley. This year we needed three buses to transport our biggest ever High School cohort! 

Taking place at the start of each school year, Art Camp is not only an exciting opportunity to welcome the new Year 7 class into High School, but it also allows students to work in smaller groups across year groups and get to know each other in the process.

Over the three days, Lachlan took students adventuring, Sarah conducted clay workshops, Steph undertook drawing on Country sessions and Lynn had students locate a quiet ‘sit spot’ so each student could connect to place through written responses and sketching. Finally, Adam issued groups with a mysterious envelope of elemental art images and poetic verse and then invited each group to create natural sculptures in-place. Students rose to this challenge mindfully and creatively with dedication and enthusiasm! On our final morning, we all ventured out along the vast creek beds to locate each beautiful piece, eventually leaving them for other visitors to enjoy before they inevitably would be returned to place by the elements.

Stephanie has completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts (COFA, UNSW), a Bachelor of Communications (UTS) and a Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education (Monash). She has a pre-teaching background in the arts, public affairs and publishing, and taught in London and Sydney before joining Kindlehill in 2017.
