2026 Term 2: Mon 20th Apr - Fri 26th June

Connect to Protect: Singing Country with Uncle Chris Tobin and Sarah Humphreys – Brought to you by Buran Nalgarra, Kindlehill Senior School

April 30, 2025

A free song writing workshop on Country for young people aged 12-18, numbers are limited!
When: Saturday, 10th of May 10-1pm
Where: Art Camp, Bell.
What: In 2024, Kindlehill Senior School conducted a geographical investigation into the closed Canyon Colliery and its continued impact on the beautiful Bulgamatta (Grose Valley waters). In collaboration with The Conservation Society, we held an event that aimed to connect young people and families to Country through ceremony, creativity and science. This Singing on Country Workshop is the first of three that continues this adventure into connecting young people to Country with the hope to inspire love and action for water.
We will start with ceremony and storytelling by Uncle Chris Tobin who has held Art Camp at the site of the old coalmine, bringing healing, connection and hope to this important place. This will be followed by a song writing workshop with singer-songwriter Sarah Humphreys. Bus available from Kindlehill School, leaving 9am – don’t forget to book a spot! Book here: Connect to Protect: Song writing workshop. Places are limited.
