The first trail was to Asgard Swamp and then onto Asgard lookout. Such a contrast, the hidden gem of a swamp community surrounded by pagodas, and then onto a spectacular lookout over the Grose Valley.  We camped at Mt Wilson and in the evening walked a candle lit trail through the Cathedral of Ferns, spectacular ancient rainforest.

Our third trail was Mt Banks. We imagine into the enthusiasm of the person who named this place after the botanist Joseph Banks, excited by the unique flora and biodiversity; we offer answers to the questions he might have had, 200 years later, able to name and speak about this special ecological community. The views into the Grose (opposite of where we had been the day before) and the beauty of this place like the new year’s sun to us.

Camps are such an integral part of what we do in high school, lesson in classes lifted into experience. Classes 7 and 8 mixing together like cousins catching up. The huge warm fire tended by the Kfir the fire keeper. Beauty around us, within us and hopefully a trail we walk for the coming new Sun’s year.

Lynn Daniel Class 5-6 Teacher

Originally a high school teacher in the public system, Lynn has also taught at TAFE and in community settings. In the Steiner context, she has previously been a kindergarten and primary school teacher. In addition to her roles as Chair and Principal, Lynn is High School Co-Ordinator, teaches Geography and History, and co-ordinates the Outdoor Education Programme. Lynn has a B. Arts (UWA) and a Dip. Ed. (WA Secondary Teachers College).
