SEEN – Teen Portrait Photography Exhibition

November 12, 2024

SEEN, a beautiful photographic exhibition of young people, at GalleryONE88 in Katoomba,s was a Kindlehill Senior School collaboration with local photographer Maja Basker, Blue Mountains High Schools, Blue Mountains City Council and GalleryONE88.

Earlier this year, our senior students met with six community elders and changemakers to talk about the problems that matter to them in our community. Youth mental health, climate change, and social connection were three resounding themes that emerged from these conversations and SEEN was designed to affirm identity, break down stereotypes, and celebrate creativity in young people.

It was important to us that the exhibition was held in an established local gallery. Rose, a Buran Nalgarra student at Kindlehill says “We want to see our own art on the walls of local galleries and to share images that speak to who we really are.”
