Our Environment

Kindlehill Steiner School is perched above the beautiful lake in Wentworth Falls, in amongst the heritage listed Blue Mountains national park. We are proud to honor the original custodians of this land first and foremost the Dharug and Gundungurra people.

Rudolf Steiner explained that our natural environment not only shapes us as individuals but it also becomes a part of who we are. We take both pride and joy in the beautiful grounds and learning spaces that we have created and continue to take care of.

The original school forms part of the original structure but in 2008 the primary buildings were lovingly constructed by members of our community. Our gardens are tended to by children, teachers, parents and the wider community alike.

Our school features three main buildings which are fully equipped with:

  • Playgroup
  • Kindy Garden rooms
  • Primary to year 10 rooms
  • Library
  • Music room
  • Architecturally acclaimed performance space
  • High School art studio
  • Science lab
  • Woodwork and metal workshop
  • Administration offices
  • The larger outdoor grounds feature a variety of age appropriate gardens and playgrounds which weave their way through the premises. They feature, sandpits, various cubbies, an adventure rope bridge, giant slide, trampoline, bush circle complete with a fire pit, basketball court and chicken pens. Throughout the School we have planted and maintain areas of permaculture gardens and make use of our office for a fully functioning permaculture garden.

Beauty is an integral part of the Steiner principles and treasuring our land, our buildings and our environment in this way, enables our senses to be enriched with each day we spend here.

Curved brick paths through native bushland connect Kindlehills earth-coloured classrooms to the seasonal rhythms of Country.Focused student carves timber at a workbench, connecting head, heart, and hands through purposeful, artistic craftsmanship.

Kindy

Opening to light-filled spaces and topped with a spiral turret, our Kindy rooms abound with light, natural mud walls and wooden beams.

The entrance to the Kindy features a gorgeous carved wooden tree door.

Outside Kindy is our delightful and generous Grandfather apple tree whose branches have embraced and held the children since we began.

Primary & High School

Newly renovated in 2026, the entrance to our Primary School features handcrafted steel doors, a wide entrance hall leading to the senior rooms above and music room below.

It opens to 2 large light-filled classrooms on either side which feature newly installed skylights and both rooms are equipped with stoves for cooking, large, light filled windows overlooking the covered verandas and out to our front gardens.
Our High School began in 2011 and features a science room, open plan study rooms, an art studio and a tech workshop for metal and wood working.

The school is planning to expand our High School with a recently purchased plot of land adjacent to the school.

Performance Space

The performance space is a circular amphitheatre finished in our beautiful cob rendering.

It provides a warm, inviting and inclusive space for performance, gathering and workshopping amongst other fun games and sports when the weather isn't so accomodating outdoors.

Outdoor Spaces

Every inch of our grounds are carefully considered, well used and enjoyed by staff and children alike.

From our permaculture gardens to our diverse range of play equipment that fosters adventurous, collaborative and imaginative play, each space and place is well loved and intentionally used.

There is a large basketball court for ball games and other sports as well as a quieter recreational space around our bush circle where many a damper and yarning circle have been enjoyed.

We warmly invite you to join us on a tour or upcoming event

The best way to understand Kindlehill Steiner School is to experience it. Visit the school, walk the grounds, meet the teachers and feel the atmosphere for yourself.

Acknowledgement of Country

Kindlehill Steiner School is situated on Dharug and Gundungurra land; we pay respects to the traditional custodians whose cultures and customs continue to nurture this land. We support the Uluru Statement from the Heart, Truth telling about the impact and legacy of colonisation, a Voice to Parliament enshrined in the Australian Constitution and a process of Treaty making.
